We Can Count On Him

In the past 8 Months I have been given many reasons to question GOD, yet questioning Him and accepting His will are different things. When we question God about bad things happening to us, in reality it is us showing the lack of faith we truly have. I read a short story once that was written in 1859 by “Elizabeth Cheney”, like Job 1:21, I often think of it when I face trials and tribulations. I will admit that I have been faced with many trials that remind me of Job’s troubles, Some so severe they make me wonder when the next shoe will drop.

Overheard in an Orchard

Said the Robin to the Sparrow,
“I should really like to know
Why these anxious human beings
Rush about and worry so!”

Said the Sparrow to the Robin,
“Friend, I think that it must be
That they have no heavenly Father
Such as cares for you and me!”

Such a powerful reminder of how weak my faith truly is at times. Thus my heart gets convicted by the Spirit inside me to remember how Job handled drastic adversity, Thus like Job, I have continued to repeat in my heart,

“Naked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked shall I return there. The
LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; Blessed be the name of the LORD.”
(Job 1:21)

This short story should remind us of how Jesus used the carefree attitude of the birds to underscore the fact that worrying is unnatural. God did not create us to worry, because He wanted us to have faith in Him that He would carry us through all times, both good and bad.

“Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns;
yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”
(Matthew 6:26)

If God cares for tiny birds and frail Flowers, why cannot we count on Him for every aspect of our lives? God loves us so much that He sent His only begotten Son, into this septic tank we call the World, to save us. Think about it, doesn’t this prove how valuable we are to Him? Many times our tribulations are brought upon us due to our lack of faith. So God will allow things to happen to us so we will then have our faith strengthened. Once we have truly reached the level of faith Jesus wants us to have…. Well the answer comes from Jesus Himself, when He responded to the apostles plea for Him to strengthen their faith in Luke 17:5-6.

“And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.” So the Lord said, “If you have faith as a mustard
seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.”

Have faith dear brothers and sisters,

“Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as
you have. For He Himself has said, “I WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU NOR FORSAKE YOU.”
(Hebrews 13:5)

I pray that those who have ears to hear, will listen to His voice and call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen
