As I watched a video of an atheist and a Christian debating the existence of GOD, I was struct by the way the atheist refused to even consider the evidence presented by the Christian. It’s as if they would rather be ignorant to the facts than even consider them.
I came to the conclusion that atheists are so determined to win, because they feel the need to shield themselves from Christianity. So they put up enough barriers that will wall themselves off from the evidence. All that matters to them, is they “win”, and that Christians fail to persuade them. It’s kind of like someone who is diagnosed with a type of cancer that is proven to be cured 100% of the time, but instead the patient has convinced themselves that homeopathic therapy is the way to go. This is not a knock on homeopathic therapy, but there are times when a sure cure beats taking chances.
It matters not that doctors have their best interest in heart and thus plead with the patient to take the therapy that has proven to heal others with the same curable cancer. What matters to the patient is they refuse to admit their own false belief that the cure offered by the doctor is wrong and dangerous to their very life. I understand that in today’s world the analogy of a doctor patient relationship is not the best, due to the low respect of the medical system these days,. yet I like the analogy as I look back too the days when we did trust doctors.
My point is that ultimately the patient wants to “win” the argument, so regardless of the consequences of their ignorance. Yet it’s not the doctor who has a personal stake in the outcome, because the doctor is not the one with cancer, and thus the one who will die. In the same manner, it is not the Christian they are debating that has a stake in the outcome, it is the atheist, because the atheist will be the one spending eternity in hell.
So sad that so many actually believe that ignorance is bliss.
