Pray Before You Work

(Hudson Taylor 1832-1905)

Whenever I find myself trying to accomplish a task, I must remind myself to never do it in the flesh. For when I do things in the flesh the results are never satisfying to me nor for my customer. Thus I always find myself praying for the Holy Spirit to take control of that which I must do. Then, when the job is finished, I know it will be complete, because I did not do it by the power of my flesh but rather by the power of God.

Remember, to always invite God to be a part of everything you do. By doing so you will be guaranteed that the Holy Spirit will be helping you to do whatever you do to perfection. This is especially important as I get older, because I realize I need to be reminded of things I used to remember easily. As a handyman I never know what a customer might need fixed or built. I often find myself doing a job I have not done in 30 years. Or I find myself working on a farm house that was built 80 years ago, and nothing seems to be where it should be, or work as expected.

I lose track of how many times I opened up a wall, and nothing seems to be where it’s supposed to be, because they built things totally different in 1945 or 1975 and no one has blueprints on old homes. So when I get to a job site, the first thing I do is pray for God’s help. I pray for the Holy Spirit to bring things to my remembrance the things I may not remember as well as I did when I was younger. Works every time it’s tried. So regardless of what you do, always remember to listen to your number One Helper, and you will always be assured that the customer will be more than satisfied.

God bless you all, and have a complete Spirit filled day.
