I wrote this psalm back in 2008 , when I was in a spiritual struggle with Satan. I won that battle, but only because I had the full armor of God on. So I wrote this as a thank you and a praise to my Lord and Savior who gave me the tools I needed to win the battle.
Before I found Christ my soul was lost in sin
The evil one controlled it he had found a way in
He had desires for my flesh and commanded my soul
He even transformed my heart into an empty black hole
Thanks to the Holy One I will continue to fight on
Because I know one day that all temptation will be gone
Satan’s attacks can be sudden and swift
Hoping to entice me with an evil little gift
While hoping to sow a seed that would grow
He awaits patiently to deliver a final death blow
Thanks to the Holy One I will continue to fight on
Knowing one day all temptation will be gone
Like darkness that overcomes me when I close my eyes
His evil ways are dark and full of many lies
He uses old forgotten memories to make me desire
A life that was headed for destruction and fire
Thanks to the Holy One I will continue to fight on
Knowing one day all temptation will be gone
The devil would lure me in with pleasure and fun
Offering me every fleshly desire under the sun
With a chance at fame fortune and wealth he almost won
I could’ve been just another life and soul that was gone
Thanks to the Holy One I will continue to fight on
Knowing one day all temptation will be gone
He offered the World, and told me I could have it all
Hoping to make me dizzy, so I’d stumble and fall
He knows in the old days I would answer to his call
But now my heart belongs to the One Who created it all
Thanks to the Holy One I will continue to fight on
Knowing one day all temptation will be gone
Because I trust in The One who paid for my sin
Satan tries even harder to find a way back in
Day in and day out his temptations try to win
But with the full armor of God I’m ensured I will win
Thanks to the Holy One I will continue to fight on
Knowing one day all temptation will be gone
Praise God for loving me enough to die for me.
Putting On The Full Armor Of God
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the [a]wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints. Ephesians 6:10-18
